Susheela Subbarao, MD

Dr. Susheela Subbarao has been practicing Family Medicine for over 8 years and joined Needham Wellesley Family Medicine in 2015. She enjoys caring for families in her community and has a special interest in caring for new parents and their children. She is also an avid teacher of medical students, residents, nurses, and PA students. She has been a leader in the “Patient-Centered Medical Home” transformation; a process that allows medical offices to deliver optimal comprehensive care to children, adolescents and adults.

Dr. Subbarao graduated with a Bachelors of Arts and M.D. from the Siena College-Albany Medical College dual degree program in Albany, NY. She completed a Family Medicine residency training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Mckeesport, PA. While in residency, she was recognized and awarded by the National Society of Teachers in Family Medicine for her clinical teaching. While practicing in Massachusetts, she was awarded “Excellence in Clinical Teaching” by Tufts Family Medicine Residency Program. She spent 5 years teaching a Harvard Medical School course called “Doctor Patient Relationship” in order to improve bedside manner and physical exam skills in medical students.

Dr. Subbarao is passionate about providing high quality care to her patients and is thrilled to be part of Needham Wellesley Family Medicine. She grew up in Pennsylvania. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese. She loves spending time with her husband and beautiful son. She enjoys running, cooking, travelling and being outdoors.
