Dr. Leonard Finn has practiced family medicine for over 30 years.  He has dedicated his medical career to patient-centered, comprehensive family medicine and opened Needham Wellesley Family Medicine in 2010.

Dr. Finn graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 1970 from Tufts University.  He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1974 and completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1977.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Finn teaches medical students and residents in family medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Tufts University School of Medicine, and Boston University School of Medicine, as well as physician assistant students from Northeastern University.  In addition to in-office teaching, he presents continuing medical education lectures to practicing family physicians.  Dr. Finn works with the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Cancer Society to develop national guidelines for preventive medicine.  His clinical interests include preventive medicine, wellness programs, and optimal chronic disease management.

He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians, and the Massachusetts Medical Society.

An author, educator, and leader, Dr. Finn has won numerous awards including Distinguished Service Awards from the Massachusetts and the American Academies of Family Physicians and First Prize for a Scientific Paper by a Practicing Physician from the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Finn grew up in Maine and Massachusetts and is married with two daughters.  He enjoys kayaking, mountain climbing, and cross-country skiing, as well as books, music, and movies.
